Features This $2 million two-phase project involved the conversion of Firing Room No. 4 in the Launch Control Center into Operations Control Room No. 1.  This challenging four-month project, designed by AJT & Associates, provided NASA's Checkout and Launch Control System Program with the first step in a state-of-the-art configuration of a firing room capable of supporting shuttle processing and launch countdowns as well as future vehicles.  The complete renovation included new and upgraded finishes, mechanical systems, computer room A/C units, elevated flooring and specialized electrical systems.  As a result of the successful completion of this project, KSC selected RUSH Construction, Inc. as the "Small Business Contractor of the Year" for 1998.
